jpg - Twitter LogoThe latest news that Twitter will be spidering links featured in posts for inclusion in search results is a real shake up. This makes twitter a real web marketing tool.

It looks like Twitter is planning to leverage it's users content to provide an almost realtime search engine. The theory being that 4.5 Million plus active users linking to parts of the web  in their posts are better than a traditional web spider.

I can see the place for this, however I don't see how this would neccessarily trouble Google. For one Google already spiders Twitter posts and therefore could easily incorporate, if not already, this into their algorithm.

Take away

This does highlight that Twitter accounts are important and should be kept updated with new content and developments on your website. Particularly websites with blogs. Don't forget this can be done automatically in most cases.
